Wiki Enhancements Implementation Plan

For agentic workers: REQUIRED SUB-SKILL: Use superpowers:subagent-driven-development (recommended) or superpowers:executing-plans to implement this plan task-by-task. Steps use checkbox (- [ ]) syntax for tracking.

Goal: Add PACKING.md, WORKATION.md, HIGHLIGHTS.md to the repo root; add highlights and workation callouts to all stop files; strip cycling-as-transport language; apply targeted per-file improvements.

Architecture: Pure Markdown content changes. No code, no tooling. All files are in the repo root or locations/. Changes are independent per task — each task is self-contained and committable on its own.

Tech Stack: Markdown, git

Global Constraints

  • Trip is a driving + sightseeing + workation trip — not a cycling tour. Bike rental is fine as a day activity; loaded-tour cycling language must be removed.
  • 3 colleagues travelling together in one electric car.
  • Confirmed deadline: Dublin by Aug 29, game day Aug 30.
  • All new files go in repo root (alongside README.md, CONTRIBUTING.md).
  • marker goes immediately before the item name in bullet lists, e.g. - ⭐ **Slieve League Cliffs** — ...
  • Workation line format in Practical Info sections: - **Workation:** <one line description>
  • No placeholders, no TBDs in any file.

# Workation Guide — Remote Work on the Road

> 3 colleagues working remotely across UK, Isle of Man, Ireland, and France. Aug 4 Sep 2, 2026.

## Connectivity Setup

### Recommended Approach
One colleague buys a **Three UK SIM** on arrival at Harwich (available at Tesco, supermarkets, and convenience stores near the port). Three UK's Go Roam plan includes unlimited data roaming in Ireland at no extra cost — this single SIM covers England, Ireland, and France for the entire trip.

Use it as a **shared mobile hotspot** for all 3 colleagues. For light work (async Slack, email, occasional video calls), one hotspot is sufficient. If all 3 need simultaneous video calls regularly, consider a second SIM.

### Isle of Man Exception
The Isle of Man is a Crown Dependency with its own mobile networks (Manx Telecom, Sure). Most UK and Irish roaming plans exclude it or charge international rates. **Check your specific carrier's IoM policy before departure.** If not covered, options are:
- Buy a local SIM in Douglas (Manx Telecom shop on Strand Street)
- Use a global eSIM such as Airalo for the 24 days on the island

### France Return Leg
Three UK Go Roam covers France. No additional SIM or setup needed for the Sep 12 return.

### Apps to Install Before Departure
- Slack / Teams in offline mode
- VPN if required by your employer
- Cloud sync fully up to date (Google Drive / OneDrive / Dropbox offline files enabled)
- Download offline maps for Ireland and France (Maps.me or Google Maps offline areas)

## Per-Stop Workation Ratings

| Stop | Connectivity | Best Workspace | Rating |
|------|-------------|----------------|--------|
| Harwich | Good | Hotel lobby | ⚡ Pass-through |
| Cambridge | Excellent | Cafés near Market Square; CB1 Coffee | ★★★★ |
| York | Good | Cafés near the Shambles; Brew & Brownie | ★★★ |
| Liverpool | Excellent | Baltic Triangle coworking spaces; hotel | ★★★★ |
| Isle of Man (Douglas) | Good | Hotels; cafés on Strand Street | ★★★ |
| Belfast | Excellent | Commercial Court area cafés; Wework-style coworking in city centre | ★★★★ |
| Donegal | PoorFair | Donegal Town cafés only; expect 4G outdoors, spotty in rural west | ★★ |
| Sligo | Good | Sligo town cafés; Johnston Court area | ★★★ |
| Westport (Mayo) | Good | Cafés on Bridge Street; hotels have reliable wifi | ★★★ |
| Clifden (Connemara) | Fair | Clifden town centre cafés; signal drops sharply outside town | ★★ |
| **Galway** | **Excellent** | **Coffeewerk + Press (Kirwan's Lane) — best café on the WAW; multiple coworking spaces** | **★★★★★** |
| Clare (Ennis) | FairGood | Ennis town for serious work days; Doolin itself is too rural | ★★★ |
| Kerry (Killarney) | Good | Killarney town cafés; Dingle has 23 decent options | ★★★ |
| **Dublin** | **Excellent** | **3fe (Grand Canal), Clement & Pekoe, Indie coworking spaces on Dawson St** | **★★★★★** |

### Notes
- **Best full work days:** Galway and Dublin. Plan your heaviest meetings / deadlines for these stops.
- **Avoid scheduling calls from:** Donegal coast, Clifden outskirts, Connemara bog roads, Doolin.
- **Isle of Man:** Douglas town is fine; connectivity drops outside the capital.
- **Ireland rural rule:** If you need 4G, stay within 5km of a town. The west coast is beautiful but the signal follows the roads.

## Unmissable Views

1.**[Slieve League Cliffs, Donegal](locations/06a-donegal.md)** — The highest accessible sea cliffs in Europe, three times the height of the Cliffs of Moher, with a fraction of the crowds. Walk the One Man's Pass ridge for full effect.

2.**[Snaefell Summit, Isle of Man](locations/04-isle-of-man.md)** — The only place on earth where you can see five countries (England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Isle of Man) from one spot. Take the mountain railway up.

3.**[Keem Bay, Achill Island, Mayo](locations/06c-mayo.md)** — A pristine turquoise beach sitting in a natural cliffside amphitheatre. One of the most dramatic coastal landscapes in Ireland.

4.**[Cliffs of Moher at dawn, Clare](locations/06f-clare.md)** — Go before 9am. The cliffs are the same; the crowd is not. Walk south to Hag's Head for the best elevated perspective.

5.**[Slea Head Drive, Dingle, Kerry](locations/06g-kerry.md)** — The westernmost point of Europe. Beehive huts, ruined forts, the Blasket Islands across the water, Connor Pass above. The definitive Atlantic edge drive.

---

## History & Culture

6.**[Skellig Michael, Kerry](locations/06g-kerry.md)** — A 6th-century monastery on a sea stack 12km offshore. 618 stone steps, puffins, Star Wars. One of the most extraordinary places in Europe. **Book the boat in advance.**

7.**[Dún Aonghasa, Inis Mór, Galway](locations/06e-galway.md)** — An Iron Age stone fort sitting directly on the edge of a 100m Atlantic cliff. No safety fence. The most dramatic ancient site in Ireland.

8.**[Giant's Causeway, Causeway Coast](locations/05-belfast.md)** — 40,000 hexagonal basalt columns formed by ancient volcanic activity. UNESCO World Heritage Site. Day trip from Belfast — go early.

9.**[Castle Rushen, Isle of Man](locations/04-isle-of-man.md)** — One of the best-preserved medieval castles in Europe, built by Norse kings. More impressive inside than it looks from the outside.

10.**[Book of Kells, Trinity College Dublin](locations/07-dublin.md)** — A 9th-century illuminated gospel manuscript and the Long Room library — one of the most beautiful rooms in the world. Book ahead.

---

## Food, Drink & Music

11.**[Traditional music session, Doolin, Clare](locations/06f-clare.md)** — Three pubs, sessions every night in August. McGann's, Gus O'Connor's, McDermott's. The real thing — not a tourist performance.

12.**[Seafood in Dingle, Kerry](locations/06g-kerry.md)** — Out of the Blue and Ashe's are the picks. The freshest seafood on the Wild Atlantic Way, in the most atmospheric town.

13.**[Matt Molloy's, Westport, Mayo](locations/06c-mayo.md)** — The pub owned by The Chieftains' flautist. Traditional music nightly. One of the best pub nights in Ireland.

14.**[Tigh Neachtain, Galway](locations/06e-galway.md)** — The traditional music epicentre of the Latin Quarter. Sessions most nights; Ard Bia nearby for the best meal in Galway.

---

## Unique to This Trip

15.**[Aer Lingus College Football Classic, Aviva Stadium, Dublin — Aug 30](locations/07-dublin.md)** — Notre Dame vs Navy in a 51,700-seat stadium in Dublin. One of the most unusual sporting events in the world. The whole city gets involved.

Remove the entire ## Practical Cycling Notes section (the block starting with ## Practical Cycling Notes through the - **Gaeltacht:** bullet). Replace with:

## Practical Notes

- **Getting around:** Drive between sections; park up and walk or take short day hikes at each stop
- **Bike rental:** Available in Galway, Westport, Clifden, Killarney, and Dingle for day rides — worthwhile on Achill Island and Inis Mór where roads are quiet and flat-ish
- **Hiking gear:** Bring trail runners or light boots — Croagh Patrick, Slieve League, and Diamond Hill all reward a proper walk
- **Weather:** August is best but pack waterproofs — Atlantic squalls arrive without warning
- **Food:** Never more than 20km from a pub serving hot food. Pubs stop food service around 9pm.
- **Gaeltacht:** Connemara, north Mayo coast, and Donegal are Irish-speaking. Signs are Irish-first. Any attempt at Irish is met with delight.
- **Workation bases:** Galway and Dublin are the best for heavy work days. Westport, Killarney, and Dingle for lighter days.
  • Step 2: 06a-donegal.md

Find: **Cycling note:** Roads are narrow, hilly, and quiet. This is the hardest section but also the most rewarding. Don't skip it.

Replace with: **Driving note:** Roads are narrow — allow extra time. Park up and walk at Slieve League and Glenveagh rather than trying to rush between them.

  • Step 3: 06b-sligo.md

Find: - **Cycling:** Flatter and more manageable than Donegal; the coast road to Strandhill is a good short ride

Replace with: - **Getting around:** Compact and easy to drive. Strandhill is 8km from Sligo town — a quick drive or a pleasant walk along the estuary path.

  • Step 4: 06c-mayo.md

Find: **Achill Island** — Ireland's largest island, connected by a bridge. **Keem Bay** is a pristine turquoise beach sitting in a natural cliffside amphitheatre; the drive/cycle to it is one of the most dramatic in Ireland.

Replace with: **Achill Island** — Ireland's largest island, connected by a bridge. **Keem Bay** is a pristine turquoise beach sitting in a natural cliffside amphitheatre; the drive out to it is one of the most dramatic in Ireland. Rent a bike in Keel village for a few hours — the island roads are quiet and flat enough to be genuinely enjoyable.

  • Step 5: 06d-connemara.md

Find: - **Sky Road (Clifden)** — 16km circular coastal road from Clifden town with elevated views over the Atlantic and offshore islands. One of Ireland's best cycling roads; manageable gradient, spectacular at every turn, and quiet enough even in August.

Replace with: - ⭐ **Sky Road (Clifden)** — 16km circular coastal road from Clifden with elevated views over the Atlantic and offshore islands. One of Ireland's best scenic drives; spectacular at every turn. You can also rent a bike in Clifden to ride it — the gradient is manageable.

Find: **Cycling note:** The N59 through Connemara is manageable but busy in August. The inland bog roads (L-roads) are far quieter than the N59 in summer and far more beautiful. Prefer these for cycling.

Replace with: **Driving note:** The N59 through Connemara is fine but busy in August. The inland bog roads (L-roads) are far quieter and far more beautiful — take them where they run parallel to the main road.

  • Step 6: 06e-galway.md

Find: - **Aran Islands (Inis Mór)** — Day trip or overnight from Rossaveal (40 min ferry). Inis Mór is the largest island: **Dún Aonghasa** is an Iron Age fort perching directly on the edge of a 100m Atlantic cliff — one of the most dramatic ancient sites in Europe. Rent a bike on the island; flat-ish roads, no cars to speak of.

Replace with: - ⭐ **Aran Islands (Inis Mór)** — Day trip or overnight from Rossaveal (40 min ferry). Inis Mór is the largest island: **Dún Aonghasa** is an Iron Age fort perching directly on the edge of a 100m Atlantic cliff — one of the most dramatic ancient sites in Europe. Rent a bike at the pier for the day — the island roads are nearly car-free and flat enough for anyone.

  • Step 7: 06f-clare.md

Find: - **The Burren** — 250km² of limestone pavement unlike anything else in Ireland. Arctic, Mediterranean, and alpine plants grow in the same cracks. The **Green Road** above Ballyvaughan is an old drove road with wide views; the **Burren Way** cycling route follows quiet lanes through the heart of it.

Replace with: - **The Burren** — 250km² of limestone pavement unlike anything else in Ireland. Arctic, Mediterranean, and alpine plants grow in the same cracks. The **Green Road** above Ballyvaughan is an old drove road with wide views — a straightforward walk. The lanes between Ballyvaughan and Kilfenora are worth driving slowly.

  • Step 8: 06g-kerry.md

Find: **Cycling note:** The Dingle Peninsula is excellent — quiet roads, spectacular scenery, manageable gradients. If cycling, start before 8am and go counterclockwise.

Replace with: (delete entirely — driving tips are already in the main text)

Find: Busy with tourist coaches — if driving, go **counterclockwise** (opposite to coach direction) to avoid head-on meetings. If cycling, start before 8am.

Replace with: Busy with tourist coaches — drive **counterclockwise** (opposite to coach direction) to avoid head-on traffic on the narrow sections.

  • Step 9: 02-england-to-iom-ferry.md

Find: - **Cycle infrastructure** — World-class cycling city; good place to test any gear or pick up supplies before England.

Wait — this line is about Utrecht, which was removed. Search for any remaining cycling gear references:

Find (in Cambridge section): any mention of "test gear" or "cycling supplies" — remove if present. If not present, skip.

  • Step 10: Commit
git add locations/
git commit -m "Reframe WAW as driving trip — remove cycling-as-transport language, keep bike rental as day option"

Task 6: Targeted per-file improvements + workation lines

Files:

  • Modify: locations/04-isle-of-man.md

  • Modify: locations/05-belfast.md

  • Modify: locations/06a-donegal.md through 06g-kerry.md (workation lines)

  • Modify: locations/08-return-via-france.md

  • Modify: .ai-context.md

  • Modify: README.md

  • Step 1: 04-isle-of-man.md — add dates + workation line

In the opening metadata block, add/update:

> **Dates:** ~Aug 710 (adjust to match your Steam Packet booking)

In ## Practical Info, add:

- **Workation:** Douglas has decent hotel wifi and a handful of cafés on Strand Street. Fine for a half-day of work; not a coworking destination. See WORKATION.md for IoM SIM advice.
  • Step 2: 05-belfast.md — add Giant's Causeway EV note

In the Day Trip section, after the - **Giant's Causeway** bullet, add:

  - **EV note:** The Giant's Causeway visitor centre car park has EV charging — top up while you walk the causeway.
  • Step 3: 08-return-via-france.md — simplify toll section

Find: **French motorway tolls:** Budget ~€6080 Cherbourg to Walldorf. Télépéage (Liber-t tag) speeds things up but card payment works at all tollbooths.

Replace with: **French motorway tolls:** Budget ~€6080 Cherbourg to Walldorf. Card payment (Visa/Mastercard) works at all tollbooths — no special tag needed.

  • Step 4: Add workation lines to all 7 WAW section files

Add - **Workation:** <text> to the ## Practical Info section of each file:

06a-donegal.md: - **Workation:** Poor outside Donegal Town. Schedule light async work only for this section. See WORKATION.md for the full picture.

06b-sligo.md: - **Workation:** Good in Sligo town. Decent cafés with wifi; fine for a half-day remote session.

06c-mayo.md: - **Workation:** Good in Westport. Cafés on Bridge Street have reliable wifi. Good base for a morning of work before heading to Achill.

06d-connemara.md: - **Workation:** Fair in Clifden town centre; signal and wifi drop sharply outside. Plan heavy work days before or after this section (Galway is the fix).

06e-galway.md: - **Workation:** Best stop on the WAW for remote work. Coffeewerk + Press (Kirwan's Lane) is the standout café. Multiple coworking spaces if you need a full desk setup. Plan your heaviest meeting days here.

06f-clare.md: - **Workation:** Use Ennis for serious work days — good town wifi and cafés. Doolin is rural; treat it as offline.

06g-kerry.md: - **Workation:** Good in Killarney (town cafés, hotel wifi). Dingle has 23 decent spots. Fine for regular remote work days.

  • Step 5: .ai-context.md — update trip description

Find: **Wild Atlantic Way** — cycling/driving north to south (Donegal → Kerry), ~3 weeks

Replace with: **Wild Atlantic Way** — driving north to south (Donegal → Kerry), ~3 weeks. Day hikes and optional bike rental at stops; not a cycling tour.

  • Step 6: README.md — add new files to intro section

After the closing --- of the Confirmed Dates section and before ## Location Files, add:

## Key Planning Files

| File | Purpose |
|------|---------|
| [PACKING.md](PACKING.md) | Packing list for 3 colleagues — documents, electronics, EV gear, clothing |
| [WORKATION.md](WORKATION.md) | Connectivity setup (SIMs, hotspot) + per-stop workation ratings |
| [HIGHLIGHTS.md](HIGHLIGHTS.md) | Top 15 must-not-miss experiences across the whole trip |

---
  • Step 7: Commit
git add locations/ .ai-context.md README.md
git commit -m "Add workation lines to all stops, fix IoM dates, Belfast EV note, toll simplification, update README"

Self-Review

Spec coverage:

  • PACKING.md ✓ Task 1
  • WORKATION.md ✓ Task 2
  • HIGHLIGHTS.md ✓ Task 3
  • markers in stop files ✓ Task 4
  • Cycling-as-transport removal ✓ Task 5 (all 9 files)
  • 04-isle-of-man.md dates + workation ✓ Task 6 Step 1

Gaps found and fixed:

  • Sky Road in 06d-connemara.md needed a too (added in Task 5 Step 5 since it's an unmissable scenic drive, even though it's not in the top 15 HIGHLIGHTS list — left it out of HIGHLIGHTS to keep the list at 15, but marked it as a standout in the file itself)

Placeholder scan: None found.

Consistency check: All file paths use locations/ prefix. All markers use the same format. Workation line format is consistent across all 7 WAW files.
